At last, after talking about it for 2 years, we decided to head of to the beautiful island of Bali. Almost all of my cousins had their honeymoon there and came back with great reviews so we were excited about the whole trip.
Though its peak period late December its also the monsoon season in Asia, so we kept our fingers crossed for great weather and yes, we were blessed indeed ! Amazing sun when we were at the pool, lovely clouds when we were in Kuta. We stayed at Aston Bali at Tanjong Benua, Nusa Dua which is a beautiful place if you want to stay by the beach (only 1/2 hour from Kuta town). We were lucky to get free airport transfers to town.
Though we stayed there for 5 days, it was not sufficient as we hardly had any time at all to discover the many faces of Bali.
Bali is a lovely place if you're into interior designing, as the people there are a gifted lot and work a lot with their hands. They are also service oriented so by the beach massage areas and manicure/pedicure areas are abundant and for a very cheap price.
Food in Bali was just flavorsome, not spicy to my liking but pork dishes are abundantly found on this island as the majority of the population are 'Hindus'.
Here are some FAQ's for Bali, if you're heading there ...
My most surprised sight or culture shock in Bali ?
There were more Aussies then locals in some area !
Massage
If your body aches and you're in dire need of a massage, try to body massage along the beach instead of the spa treatment which is cheaper and more effective.
Cash
Bring along USD currency as your hotel may convert the rate from USD to Rupiah, hence loss of money in the exchange rate
Shopping
If you want to shop in Bali, use a good pair of shoes and bargain like crazy, be patient and refuse to buy, as you walk away from the shop, the price of the goods get lower.
Its about U
Forget the dinner by the beach in Jimbaran, the white water rafting, the numerous tourist attractions and even the water sport, just chill by the beach...rejuvenate and relax.
