Feed the mind and you will feed the soul...

I call myself a writer but its been months even years I dare say since I have written something decent. Maybe my mind and my imagination has gone astray...
My library teacher once told me .....feed the mind and you will feed the soul. I guess reading is like fuel to the engine and to obtain inspiration as one must read to write. The web has been one of the most important thing that has happened to me, I found it as a doorway into the unknown galaxy for immense and unconditional information. It was what I had always dreamed of. But the downfall of the internet for ppl like me is that i've forgotten the old-world of newspapers and books.
So my challenge this week was to awaken my sleeping mind by endlessly stuffing it with information. And how do i do that you ask? By reading of course...I stopped by the bookstore and grabbed a load of books, trust me this was not easy. The bookstore is like a huge candy store. Many a times I enter, wanting everything but walk out empty handed due to my fickle mind.
But this time with a sole purpose of reviving the old proverb - the pen (or keyboard in this case) is mightier than the sword. I have obtained a couple of books...which I will review and share as the time goes.
The first books that I've completed reading is of course - 'The Colour Purple' by Alice Walker.
Do find my review on the book here...
If I have to sum up the whole book in 3 words, I would call it an amazing journey...as I found it very inspirational and practical. The story absorbes the reader into a world beyond return and indulges the mind with vivid anecdotes and imagination. I often wondered what was so great about this book, as it was sold out in most bookstores both in Malaysia and Singapore and not to mention that this book also came in highly recommended. But after reading it, I find it captivating. A must read I say!
Happy reading !
